Ford is about to lift the veil on the Escape 2023, which will receive a good update. If the manufacturer has not yet announced anything official, some media like Ford Authority have already seen some naked prototypes on the road. On the menu: a refresh of the design, a slight change in the layout on board, more technologies and an overhaul of the range of versions.
The images captured of these prototypes indeed reveal that the Escape will be slightly redesigned. Especially the front and rear parts will have a new style, which will allow this SUV to display a slightly more imposing and assertive look.
Recall that when it was unveiled for the 2020 model year, the Escape had been criticized for its overly sober and, above all, too car-like design, especially when compared to its ancestors who placed more emphasis on the ruggedness and outdoor adventure.
Goodbye MyKey
In addition to an aesthetic refresh, the update will bring some new technologies. According to what Ford Authority reports, the Escape would drop the MyKey technology which once made it possible to program certain limitations directly from the vehicle key.
In all likelihood, the 2023 Escape will instead offer such functions through the FordPass mobile app. However, it would be quite reasonable to assume that the entire multimedia system will also be modernized for the Sync 4 system, much more advanced than the Sync 3 of the current Escape. This system offers remote updates and a greater spectrum of customization options that can be run in conjunction with the manufacturer’s mobile application.
The plug-in hybrid, its own model
The other novelty expected for this Escape: an overhaul of the range of versions and, above all, the fact that the plug-in hybrid version will become its own version. It is still too early to comment on the variations of the Canadian model, but everything suggests that the range will follow that of the American market.
Ford plans to unveil the 2023 Escape in the coming weeks. By the time it arrives at the dealership next spring, RPM will try to get its hands on a copy to give you its impressions.
