Where are we with the Tesla Cybertruck?
The multiple pitfalls that the automotive industry has experienced over the past few years are causing substantial delays for many manufacturers, and Tesla is no exception to this rule. His model cybertruckone of the most anticipated of recent years, should finally be marketed in 2023.
New features in the meantime
While the delays in bringing this pickup to market may be caused by external factors like the pandemic, Tesla isn’t without blame either. Since the unveiling of the Cybertruck, a good number of new features have been introduced on the pickup truck which may have played a part in delaying its official launch.
The most recent ? Elon Musk claimed, via Twitter, that the Cybertruck would be “water resistant enough to briefly serve as a marine craft”. The van will be able to “cross not too rough rivers and lakes”. It is hoped that the demonstration of this feature will go better than that of bulletproof glass.
A feature similar to the all-new 2023 Hummer EV’s “Crab Walk” will also be included, according to the Tesla CEO, and we can also expect the pickup truck to pull more rabbits out of its hat ahead of its launch.
An equally wacky production version
Everything suggests that the production version of the Tesla Cybertruck will be just as crazy as the prototype that was unveiled in 2019. Several spy images have been circulating on the web for some time now, and the major difference between the observed version and the prototype unveiled in 2019 is the presence of mirrors.
A huge wiper is present on the windshield, although Elon Musk was quick to deny that this wiper is the production one. The cabin would have two screens, one of which would act as an instrument panel and the other as an infotainment system screen.
We still do not know the prices or the exact performance data of this pickup truck that promises to reinvent the wheel. Tesla, on the other hand, specifies that the production version will offer a hull designed in stainless steel, bulletproof windows, an approximate loading capacity of 1,588 kilos (3,500 pounds), a towing capacity greater than 6,350 kilos (14 000 pounds) or even a range greater than 800 kilometres.
