Maserati arrives very late in the world of prestige compact SUVs. For 2023, we discover a new range of products which has 4 distinct models and as many engines. The Italian manufacturer reveals part of the price list; they are expensive, very expensive.
When the lineup opens with the GT model, the base price is $75,200. At this price, you get a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that incorporates mild hybridization and whose power reaches 296 horsepower. A comparison with its main competitor, the Porsche Macan, is in order. With a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder, the Macan starts at $62,650. It must be said that the power is slightly lower at 261 horsepower, as is the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds against 5.3 for the Maserati.
Next comes the Modena version. It gets the same 4-cylinder as the GT, but this time the power goes up to 325 horsepower. We are then talking about a base price of $85,200. In its case, it can be compared to the Audi SQ5. The latter comes with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine whose power reaches 349 horsepower. On the other hand, its base price is $70,000. However, to take advantage of equipment equivalent to that of the Grecale Modena, you have to turn to the Technik version at $74,000. There is still a price difference of over $11,000. However, despite the difference in power, the two vehicles complete the 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds.
At the top of the thermal engine range, we find the Trofeo model. It ditches the 4-cylinder in favor of a variation of the new 3.0-liter Netturo V6 engine. With its 523 horsepower, the Trofeo is, for the moment, the most powerful luxury compact SUV on the market. The performance SUV that comes closest to the Trofeo is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio powered by a 2.9-litre V6 that produces 505 horsepower. The power difference is 18 horsepower, but the price difference of over $26,000 benefits the Alfa Romeo. Therefore, the price of the base version of the Trofeo is $129,500.
As much for Modena as for Trophy, a special launch edition, the PrimaSerie, will be available. The price of this option is not yet known. On the Modena, it adds 21-inch Pegaso rims, a Sonus audio system as well as more equipment, such as ventilated front seats. On the Trofeo PrimaSerie, 21-inch Crio rims are in the spotlight as well as a Sonus audio system, high performance this time, which is invited. Those interested in these versions will have to act quickly since the production of the PrimaSerie is limited to only 350 copies in North America.
There remains a last model in the range of Grecale whose price is not yet known, the Folgore. This is the electric version of the SUV.
