The GT-R persists and signs

When the Nissan GT-R went into production at the end of 2007, Stephen Harper was completing his second year in office in Ottawa and George W. Bush had ruled the United States for six years. So needless to say, the Japanese coupe, dubbed ‘Godzilla’ for its outsized capabilities, is ripe for a redesign.

However, this is not what Nissan recently unveiled for its 2024 vintage. Still impressive despite its advanced age, this GT-R receives changes to its front design and rear spoiler to increase downforce while maintaining a low drag coefficient.

The hand-assembled 3.8L twin-turbo V6 remains unchanged, producing 565 hp or 600 hp depending on the liveries. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission also remains on the menu, as does the ATTESA ET-S all-wheel drive that ensures its legendary traction. Now let’s hope that a new generation is on the way, because although catchy, the refrain becomes quite repetitive.
