2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E: Price drop and production increase

Whether it’s for groceries, the purchase of a future property or the acquisition of a new vehicle, rising costs are everywhere. In the automotive sector, these cost increases are still accompanied by waiting times that extend over several months, even more than a year. However, Ford today announces a piece of news that goes against all expectations. Indeed, the manufacturer has announced that it will considerably increase the production of the Mustang Mach-E and will take the opportunity to lower the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of the entire range of its electric SUV.

Price drop, a response to Tesla?

In a January 30 statement from Ford, Marin Gjaja, Customer Manager, Ford Model e Division (Ford’s in-house electrical division), said, “We won’t give anyone away. We will produce more electric vehicles to reduce customer wait times, offering competitive pricing and working to create an unparalleled ownership experience.”

Ford doesn’t name any manufacturers in its statement, of course, but we can clearly understand that Tesla was targeted. Let us remember that a few weeks ago, significant price cuts at Tesla were announced, in order to give a boost to boost sales in the manufacturer’s range. It did not take more for Ford to respond, to demonstrate its intention to impose itself in the marketing of electric vehicles.

This revision to the price scale for certain models in the range allows the small battery Premium RWD version to drop back below the $65,000 threshold, which will likely make it eligible for the provincial government rebate, as it was. when it is released in 2021. Here is a table showing the price variations that the different versions of the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E will undergo, before shipping and preparation costs. However, note here the absence of the Select version, the entry-level version, since it will not undergo any downward price adjustment, according to information provided by Ford.

Planned production increase

This price reduction of the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is due to the rationalization of the costs associated with the production of this electric SUV. Moreover, the manufacturer plans to significantly increase the production of the vehicle in order to reduce waiting times to obtain a copy of the vehicle.

The American manufacturer Ford wants to be a leader in the shift towards automotive electrification, and this news demonstrates it through the actions taken. For the moment, only the Mustang Mach-E is affected by this measure, while, on the other hand, the Ford F-150 Lightning is subject to a price increase of more than $10,000. On the other hand, it will be interesting to see if the new Mustang Mach-Es will be of better overall quality with the replacement of the product control and quality manager.

The Ford manufacturer also specifies in its press release that existing Mustang Mach-E customers awaiting delivery of their vehicle will automatically receive the adjusted price. In addition, customers with a sale date after the 1er January 2023 and who already own their Mustang Mach-E will receive a private offer from the manufacturer.
