Exceptional ¼ and ½ mile records for the Pininfarina Battista
The beauty of the contribution of electrification in the world of exotic cars is that almost all records are falling like flies, especially those that have been established with internal combustion engine vehicles. However, the war is well launched between the electric ones as evidenced by the series of records held by the Pininfarina Battista. The last in line: the ¼ mile in just 8.55 seconds.
It must be said from the outset that the record is not approved by the famous Guinness Book of Records, but it is still a record. Pininfarina Battista has tackled one of the most significant speed indicators: the ¼ mile. Technically, the current record is held by another exotic electric car, the Rimac Nevera, which completed it in 8.58 seconds. In the case of the Battista, we subtract 3 hundredths of a second from 8.55 seconds, barely the blink of an eye.
Pininfarina traveled to India on the Natrax Tour in the Gadgeon area. This 11.3 kilometer long track is known to be one of the best places in the world to reach excessive speeds. The manufacturer has teamed up with the Indian publication Coach India to do the exercise. The measuring instrument used was a simple VBOX which uses geolocation to take data. At the end of the first exercise, the timer stood at 8.55 seconds per quarter mile at a speed of 270.57 kilometers per hour. As long as they are on the track, the teams also started the ½ mile. Once again, the record has fallen. For this exercise, the time was only 13.379 seconds at a speed of 316.95 kilometers per hour.
In the same stride of speed expression, the Battista also broke its own speed record and reached 358.03 kilometers per hour. This figure impresses insofar as, with this achievement, the Battista becomes the car that has reached the highest speed on Indian soil. In addition, the team gave the wheel to racing driver and journalist Renuka Kirpalani, which allowed her to become the fastest Indian woman ever with a top speed of 357.10 kilometers per hour. These figures are now homologated in the archives of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India (FMSCI).
Built on the basis of the Rimac Nevera, the Battista adopts the same platform as well as the same 4 electric motors. By the count, power is absolutely indecent at 1,874 horsepower; and what about the torque at 1,726 lb-ft. The announced records only add to the growing list of Battista records. It also has the most impressive of all: the fastest production car in the world in the sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour and 0 to 200 kilometers per hour which it completed in 1.86 and 4 respectively, 75 seconds on the track in Nardo, Italy, in 2022.
