Dodge Challenger Hellcat Last call, one last video opens the door to speculation

The news has been out for quite a while that Dodge will be ending the sale of the Dodge Challenger in its most demonic V8 Hellcat-powered versions. The Challenger will not disappear, but it will undoubtedly return as an electric motor car if we are to believe recent information published by the manufacturer and by the Daytona SRT EV concept unveiled in August 2022.

It was last fall that the presentation of special editions of the Challenger Hellcat began, exclusive models intended to mark the end of the racing car and, by extension, the era of muscle cars modern. Dodge originally introduced the Shakedown Edition, the first in a series of seven Challengers under the “Last Call “. Next come the Challenger Black Ghost, Swingner Special Edition and Blacktop Special Edition. All these exclusive vehicles will have a unique plate bearing a serial number, we understand that they will certainly be cars prized by collectors.

Earlier this week, Dodge unveiled a new “teaser” video announcing the arrival of the next “Last Call” Challenger and this time the model is likely to hit a lot harder. Speculation is rife with the possibility of a Challenger Hellcat delivering 900 horsepower. The video shows a demonic pixie tipping a scale and stopping at 7.1 pounds. The short video is titled “Density Matters”, meaning density matters.

Weight, compression level or displacement?

It was enough for speculation to invade social networks as everyone tries to find the meaning. Some see it as a weight, would Dodge have succeeded in pushing the power of its car while maintaining a weight reduction of 7.1 pounds compared to a model such as the Dodge Demon?

The reference to density leads others to believe it is supercharger pressure. The air/fuel mixture is the basis of a vehicle’s performance. Does the 7.1 pounds refer to the increased level of overcompression?

The most optimistic go there from their theory and also see the displacement of the V8 Hemi engine which could increase to 7.2 liters, but this scenario poses several challenges. At 6.4 liters, the Hemi engine is already practically at its maximum. However, it is known that Dodge sells on the aftermarket an Ellephant engine whose displacement of 7.0 liters makes it possible to develop more than 900 horsepower. It would be surprising if the manufacturer went in this direction.

We will be fixed on March 20, 2023, when the manufacturer will lift the veil on this new Dodge Challenger “Last Call”.
