Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport 2024: Volkswagen maintains the same price range

The upheavals experienced by the entire automotive industry in recent years are forcing some manufacturers to raise the price of their vehicles. However, some still manage to anchor them to quite reasonable amounts. As proof, volkswagen has just confirmed the price range of Atlas And Atlas Cross Sport 2024, two models having been subjected to a good update. Unexpectedly, they are not necessarily more expensive than before.

Goodbye Trendline version

Well, some might accuse Volkswagen of having withdrawn the basic version Trendline in order, precisely, to direct consumers towards higher transactions. However, according to what Thomas Tetzlaff, the head of communications at Volkswagen Canada, told us, his withdrawal was mainly due to a lack of interest on the part of consumers. “We made the decision to withdraw the Trendline version because Canadian consumers just weren’t buying it anyway. “, he mentions in a press release.

Due to the addition of the new declination Peak Edition, or the one that offers a slightly more adventurous look to the vehicle, the Atlas retains 4 versions. The price scale therefore goes as follows:

As for the Atlas Cross Sport, the range remains fixed at three versions, without the addition of the Peak Edition version, which is only reserved for the ordinary Atlas. Here are the prices:

If we compare this price range to that of the 2023 model, it is, in all versions, similar prices. Even the $2,050 freight and PDI charge remained the same.

Several mechanical, aesthetic and technological changes

This mid-term update affects several elements on the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport starting with the front and rear parts which have been slightly redesigned. There are new rims and body colors as well as a slight refresh to the design and color schemes in the cabin.

Like the ID.4 and the Golf GTI and R, the entire Atlas range receives the manufacturer’s fully digital dashboard. It includes 10.25-inch digital instrumentation and a 12-inch multimedia system. Some materials in the cabin have been revised, such as the addition of woodgrain throughout the dashboard. It is also possible to fully customize the ambient lighting.

But the most important change is hidden under the hood where Volkswagen has abandoned the old VR6 engine altogether. The entire range is therefore now powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, whose power and torque have been increased to 269 horsepower (instead of 235) and 273 lb-ft (instead of 258). This engine is still mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Despite the removal of the V6 engine, the towing capacity remains fixed at 2,268 kilos (5,000 pounds).
