Subaru presents the 2024 BRZ tS, just as powerful but sportier
There Subaru BRZ of 2e generation has been on the market since 2022. More powerful, it is an interesting option for any motorist looking for a car that is very pleasant to drive. However, enthusiasts have long searched for a performance version of the small sports coupe, given that the 1D generation has sometimes been criticized for its somewhat tight power.
Some dream of an STI version, but Subaru has confirmed that this extra power could alter its behavior. Despite everything, Subaru is listening to driving enthusiasts and will offer an edition tS (tuned by STi or modified by STi). This one isn’t more vigorous, but it is more driving-oriented.
No production limit
The first edition of the BRZ tS hit the road in 2018. Specially modified for the 1D generation of the vehicle, this version was reputed to be very pleasant behind the wheel. A large spoiler was then added to the trunk, and the suspension was calibrated to make the driving experience frenzied. For the 2024 model year, Subaru intends to keep the recipe, but promises an interesting thing for buyers in search of happiness, this edition will not be as limited as the first version of 2018. Indeed, the first BRZ tS had only been sold in 100 copies in Canada, and all had been sold very quickly.
It is therefore brought back to the market as a trim level with no production limit that the Subaru BRZ tS will return to North America. The car will be marketed with everything found on the Sport-Tech version of the vehicle, while adding features exclusive to the tS.
Brembo and exclusivity
From the outset, the tS will be entitled to exclusive Brembo wheels, tires and brakes. The car will have 4-piston calipers in the front and 2-piston calipers in the rear, in a gold hue reminiscent of the Subaru WRX STIs of the era. The 18-inch dark gray metallic wheels, meanwhile, are made of aluminum and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.
One of the biggest upgrades to the 2024 Subaru BRZ tS is in the suspension. The 2018 BRZ tS had shocks delivered by German supplier Sachs, but, for 2024, Subaru has opted for Hitachi shocks built to STI team specifications. According to Subaru, this element is the strong characteristic of the model and allows the vehicle to be even more agile on the road and on the track.
In terms of aesthetics, the vehicle will be entitled to STI badges throughout the cabin, as well as seats that feature a blue line exclusive to the edition. Otherwise, this car retains the same mechanics as the regular version, namely a 2.4-liter boxer engine that develops 228 horsepower and produces 184 lb-ft of torque.
The version is expected in 2024 on the market. No announcement has yet been made by the manufacturer regarding the arrival of this version in Canada, but we bet it will be offered since the first modification of the model was available on Canadian soil.
