Acura presents its very first electric model

Honda’s luxury brand, Acura, recently lifted the lid on the final shape of its first-ever electric model. The ZDX, which strangely takes the name of a crossover with mixed success, was designed in partnership with General Motors (GM).

The technical sheet of this newcomer therefore displays certain similarities with the Cadillac Lyriq, with which it shares the chassis and the Ultium electric platform, in order to reduce development costs. Both models have the same wheelbase, while the ZDX is 23 mm longer than its American cousin.

On the mechanical side, Acura’s protege will be entitled to two versions with two engines. The Type S version will have 500 hp, while the less sporty A-Spec version has not yet seen its power detailed. Acura specifies that the ZDX Type S will also be able to travel 500 km drawn from a 102 kWh battery shared with the other variant. A maximum charging power of 190 kW will be possible.

Moreover, the Japanese brand specifies that the ZDX A-Spec will be sold “over $80,000”, while the more dynamic Type S will require a disbursement of “over $90,000”.

Acura specifies that the first copies of this ZDX will arrive at Canadian dealerships next spring.
