The 2024 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter will be offered starting at $97,990
The RPM team was able to discover the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter 2024 last March, this is the electric version of the German manufacturer’s van. Electrification also involves commercial vehicles, and Mercedes-Benz now intends to compete with Ford, which offers the E-Transit.
Initially, the Mercedes-Benz will only be offered in Canada in a 170-inch long wheelbase version including the high roof. Only the most powerful battery will be offered in Canada, this LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery has a capacity of 113 kilowatt hours usable. According to EPA simulations presented by the manufacturer, the vehicle should have a range of 308 kilometers (400 kilometers according to the ever more optimistic WLTP standard).
The base price of the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is $97,990, excluding freight and delivery charges. The first copies should arrive in October 2023.
Only one battery
The built-in AC charger has a maximum power of 9.6 kilowatts while the maximum direct current (DC) fast-charging power is up to 50 kilowatts. It is possible to obtain more power with an optional upgrade, the fast charging power will be able to reach up to 115 kilowatts, which allows the battery to be recharged from 10 to 80% in just over 40 minutes.
No all-wheel drive
The Mercedes-Benz eSprinter has a single engine that sends its power to the rear wheels. All-wheel drive is not currently offered. The basic electric motor has a power of 100 kilowatts (136 horsepower), it is possible to obtain more performance thanks to the motor of 150 kilowatts (204 horsepower) offered as an option. Both provide 295 lb-ft of torque.
