Volvo | The EX30 electric subcompact SUV will be sold under $55,000

Volvo this week revealed the price range for its new EX30 electric subcompact SUV. This addition to the Swedish manufacturer’s electric offering will make it possible to attract a wider customer base thanks to a starting cost of $53,700, or $6,200 less than a standard XC40 Recharge.

In exchange for this sum, you get the rear-wheel drive version with a 268 hp engine. It is theoretically capable of covering 442 km on a full charge thanks to a 69 kWh battery shared with the twin-engine variant.

The latter raises the price to $59,900, an amount justified by its 422 hp in total which will ensure 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. This gain in power also has little impact on the range, which drops to 427 km.

Note that all liveries of this SUV, slightly smaller than a Hyundai Kona, should benefit from full federal and Quebec incentives, because the price of the most equipped twin-engine version caps at $62,100.

Interested parties will be able to order their EX30 this fall and Volvo Canada estimates that the first deliveries will be made this summer.
