More power and better brakes for the 2024 Genesis G70

For 2024, the Genesis G70 will begin its seventh year on the market, having arrived for the 2018 model year with us. Since then, it has gone under the knife to give it a style more in line with the brand’s other models, but the mechanics remained the same. 2024 is, however, a year of change, as the improvements to the South Korean edition of the car foreshadowed. Here too, the base 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine will be replaced by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, while other equipment is also added, as Genesis Canada has just confirmed.

The power therefore jumps by 48 horsepower and 51 pound-feet of torque for all versions equipped with a 4-cylinder. 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque will therefore be available to drivers of these versions, which positions the Genesis G70 at the top of all other cars in the category in terms of power for the entry-level edition. On the other hand, while other cars offer a 48-volt mild hybridization system, the Genesis G70 is content with a more classic approach.

For versions currently equipped with the 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 engine, there are no mechanical changes announced at this time.

More standard equipment

This increase in power is also accompanied by a reworked braking system. We therefore find, as standard, Brembo brakes at the front. In addition, the climate controls are now replaced by touch controls, and the central rearview mirror is now of the “rimless” type, for greater aesthetic refinement. Some aesthetic details are also added throughout the cabin.

From a safety point of view, a few improvements have been made, but the main ones concern the addition of an airbag between the two front seats, as well as the addition of airbags to the rear seats. Finally, the Genesis digital key is also offered for 2024, with the possibility of giving access to your vehicle simply by sending a digital key by text message.
