Ford wants to make its electric Transit more attractive

The electric transition has not been easy in recent years for Ford. This tumultuous context has forced the brand with the blue oval to postpone the release of certain models and to lower the prices of its Mustang Mach-E. Now it is the turn of the electric Transit to make a seduction operation.

The electric van has seen its prices adjusted to make it an even more attractive alternative to the thermal version. Thus, after adjusting costs and subtracting the $10,000 federal incentive, the prices of all versions are technically equal to those of their gasoline counterparts. It is nevertheless important to specify that this amount is subtracted after taxes are added, which somewhat reduces its scope.

Maintenance and fuel costs are also significantly lower. According to Ford, a company that uses an electric Transit can expect to save up to $50,000 over 10 years of use.

The standard low-roof cargo variant now retails for $71,695, excluding the associated fees. In exchange for this outlay, you get a minivan equipped with a rear-mounted motor of 266 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Its battery, whose capacity has been increased to 89 kWh for 2024, provides a maximum range of 254 km. The charging power still peaks at a fairly high 176 kW, which can, on a compatible fast charging station, allow you to store 107 km in 15 minutes.

Note that in addition to the relatively limited autonomy, these electric Transits cannot tow anything. The maximum payload capacity is 1,813 kg, depending on the livery, which is, however, comparable to many thermal versions. It therefore targets a specific profile of companies that should not face supply problems when ordering, Ford Canada confirmed to us.
