Stellantis begins its electric shift

Stellantis invited its shareholders and members of the media to an online presentation that discussed its electrification projects. According to the CEO of the company, Carlos Tavares, four new modular electric platforms are planned within his brands in the coming years. By 2025, Tavares wants 98% of the models sold by the group to be electrified.

Stellantis’ electric movement is big because it affects a host of brands marketed all over the world, including Dodge, RAM, Jeep and Chrysler, but also Fiat, Maserati, Opel and Peugeot. One by one, these manufacturers presented their electrification plans. Each of them will offer a private model of a thermal engine over the next four years.

On this side of the Atlantic, we can expect a full electrification of the Ram pickup truck lineup that won’t have the choice to follow the Ford F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV of this world. The manufacturer is also talking about electrifying its commercial sector by the middle of this decade.

Dodge promises to deliver the first electric “muscle car” to us by 2024, while Jeep wants all its models to be without a combustion engine for the next five years. During its presentation, Jeep even presented some technologies that it plans to incorporate into the Wrangler, such as the possibility of combining it with a drone that follows it on its off-road adventures.
