2022 electric BMW i4 starting price of $ 54,990

BMW will offer two new electric models in 2022, the iX SUV and the i4 sedan, one that aims to offer consumers a major competitor to the Tesla Model 3 and the Polestar 2. BMW Canada has just opened pre-orders for its first sedan electric, the BMW i4 2022.

The BMW i4 eDrive 40, the entry-level model, starts at $ 54,990 before freight and delivery charges. This allows it to be eligible for the provincial rebate for electric vehicles, reducing its final price by $ 8,000. This version of the i4 is not eligible for the federal discount of $ 5,000 because it sells for over $ 45,000.

At that price, you get a near-mid-size luxury sedan, in the flavor of a 4 Series Gran CoupĂ©, powered by a battery with a capacity of 83.9 kilowatt hours (81.5 usable). Powered by a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, it promises to offer a range of 475 kilometers according to the EPA’s evaluations. Horsepower and torque are rated at 335 horsepower and 317 pound-feet.

BMW i4 M50 2022

Consumers can also opt for a more fierce version, the i4 M50. Powered by the same battery, this version adds a second electric motor mounted on the front axle, making it a 4-wheel drive model. Total combined horsepower climbs to 536 horsepower, and torque climbs to 586 pound-feet. Able to complete the sprint from 0 to 100 km / hour in just 3.9 seconds, the i4 M50 promises a range of 385 km, still according to the projections of the EPA.
