Here is a 323 horsepower Geo Tracker
At first glance, this Geo Tracker looks like a particularly well-preserved example of a rather innocuous model. Slender foxes will notice the unique 17-inch wheels and oversized tires, however, which cast doubt on what lies beneath the body. And for good reason, since this Geo Tracker has a 323 horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine from a Chevrolet Camaro under its hood.
This very special copy of Geo Tracker 1996 was recently put up for sale in the United States on the dedicated automotive auction website. Cars and Bids. Under its immaculate body – which has been completely redone and painted in a red from the Porsche catalog – hides an engine 236% more powerful than the original one.
After hours of work and tinkering, the original 1.6-liter, 96-horsepower 4-cylinder was replaced by a 3.6-liter V6 delivering 323 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque from of a fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro. This machine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel that transmits power to the rear wheels of the Geo Tracker via a 4.30 ratio differential. Although no performance data is available, it is easy to imagine that this modified Geo Tracker is much faster than the original vehicle.
In addition to fitting that big engine under the hood, a cold air intake system, less restrictive exhaust system, 17-inch Ram 1500 wheels, and domed tires were added. On board, the instrumentation has been redesigned to be able to relay engine data and a touchscreen radio has been added, in order to bring this vehicle, which has accumulated 25 years of age, into the modern era. Despite the modern character of the vehicle, the air conditioning could not be installed due to lack of space in the engine bay.
The auction closed yesterday and the vehicle sold for a staggering US $ 14,250, which equates to $ 17,750 in Canadian dollars.
