The 2022 Honda Civic hatchback, cheaper than its predecessor
The Honda Civic Hatchback 2022 arrives in the concessions of the country. It sits alongside the sedan, which has also been completely redesigned this year. Honda takes the opportunity to integrate a new basic LX declination sold at a floor price of $ 29,700, including transport and preparation costs. This is a reduction of $ 2,400 from the old model.
More expensive than the $ 3,500 sedan, the Honda Civic hatchback brings more versatility to the range and offers the option of a manual gearbox, a feature absent from the sedan side.
And as is the case with the sedan, Civic hatchback buyers have the choice of two 4-cylinder engines: a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter that puts out 158 horsepower and produces 138 pound-feet of torque. and a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 180 horsepower and torque of 177 pound-feet. Each engine can be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Three versions are available for this model: LX ($ 29,700), Sport ($ 33,200) and Sport Touring ($ 36,700). Each of them offers a choice of gearboxes at no additional cost.
The arrival of the Civic hatchback also portends the base of the Honda Civic Type R next generation, which has been confirmed by the manufacturer. There is also the Si of which we do not yet know anything. As the coupe is now gone, that could mean the introduction of the Si into the 5-door model lineup. We will know more in a few months. By then, RPM will have tested the 2022 Civic Hatchback to give you its impressions.
