The Porsche Taycan receives its GTS version
As is the case with all GTS versions that Porsche On the market, the Taycan GTS is between the entry-level 4S versions and the very high performance Turbo and Turbo S. It is available both on the regular Taycan and on the Cross Turismo. Porsche, however, changes its name to the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo.
To arrive at a GTS, Porsche installs the battery of a Turbo (optional in the 4S) with a capacity of 93.4 kilowatt hours, unlike 79.2 in a 4S. Like its sisters, it offers 4-wheel drive thanks to 2 electric motors (one on each train), including a 2-speed mechanical transmission attached to the rear axle.
Between a 4S and a Turbo
The total combined power is therefore displayed at 590 horsepower, or 28 horsepower more than a Taycan 4S powered by the same battery, but still 80 horsepower less than a Turbo. According to Porsche, all this cavalry would allow the Taycan GTS to complete the sprint from 0 to 96 km / hour in just 3.5 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than a Taycan 4S.
In terms of range, Porsche announces up to 504 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. The manufacturer also mentions that it is the first Taycan to exceed the 500 km threshold. However, we would expect an EPA estimate to be around 430 kilometers.
Not just more power
Of course, a GTS is much more than a little more performance, it is also a model that includes design elements of its own and a few additions to improve handling in the corners. For example, the GTS comes standard with air suspension and rear torque vectoring, features that are optional on a 4S.
It also comes with its own unique body colors, a bit more dynamic front end, side skirts, 20-inch rims painted black and body elements that are also black. We also notice larger brake discs than on a 4S at the front, or 15.4 inches rather than 14.2. However, the rear discs measure 14.1 inches, just like on a 4S. Yes, carbon ceramic brakes are optional.
The interior of a Taycan GTS is further distinguished by the integration of brushed aluminum, red GTS badges in the headrests and a suede finish that Porsche calls Race-Tex for the seats, the dashboard, the interior of the doors, the ceiling light and the center console.
The 2022 Porsche Taycan and Taycan Sport Turismo GTS will arrive in dealerships nationwide next spring at a base price of $ 150,100 and $ 152,700 respectively. At the time of this writing, it was possible to configure one on the Porsche Canada site.
