The GMC Hummer EV will have a range of 529 km
The GMC Hummer EV is talked about a lot with its innovative features like the four-wheel steering with “Crab” function, its excessive power and its large battery. As the vehicle prepares to launch in the United States, the automaker has confirmed some data. The most important, and the one that everyone expected, is certainly the range, which is estimated at 529 km according to the EPA test cycle.
This autonomy data applies only to the truck GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, the launch version of the juggernaut. This 529 km approved by the EPA puts the GMC Hummer EV ahead of the only electric truck currently marketed in the United States, the Rivian R1T with a battery of approximately 135 kilowatt hours, with a range of 517 km.
It must be said that the GMC has a very large capacity battery. It is the Ultium battery with a capacity of 200 kilowatt hours, the largest ever installed in a production vehicle intended for consumers. This powers three electric motors – one at the front and two at the rear – which produce a total power of over 1,000 horsepower. This would be enough to take the Hummer EV from 0 to 96 km / hour in 3.0 seconds, a feat for a 4,112 kg (9,046 lb) vehicle, nearly twice the weight of a Chevrolet Colorado anyway. team.
Canadians will wait
GMC has also confirmed that the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 will land on American soil as early as December for a handful of consumers, as production is taking off at the Factory Zero plant in Detroit.
Canadian customers will have to wait longer since the first units will not land until the fall of 2022, probably in October according to what Phillipe-André Bisson, public relations officer for GM Canada, confirmed to us. Canadian pricing is not yet revealed, but the US price for this launch version will exceed $ 100,000.
For the 2023 model year, other variants will also be offered. According to GMC president Duncan Aldred, variants with more autonomy will be offered, as well as cheaper variants.
With an arrival in December, the GMC Hummer EV becomes the second electric truck to be marketed on North American soil.
