Ford Ranger Raptor: unveiling on February 22

Ford continue stripping Ranger Raptor with a new series of images and a new video. We now know that it will be unveiled in broad daylight on February 22, 2022.

Ford unveils a small series of images and a video (see below) featuring a camouflaged version of the Ranger Raptor. Unfortunately, the manufacturer keeps all the pleasures of giving us more information on the product. However, since a picture is worth a thousand words, one only has to look closely to grasp some of the changes that have been made to the Ranger for its time in the Raptor lineup.

Really for off-road

Already, the grille will be entitled to a treatment similar to that of its big brother, the F-150 Raptor. The bumper will also get underbody spotlights that will be exclusive to it. As it should be for this type of pickup, the tracks will be widened, which will allow the vehicle to sit better on its wheels and on its possibly strong 33-inch BF Goodrich All Terrain tires. Designed for extreme off-roading, its suspensions are completely revised in elevation and travel for passage in difficult areas. In the same vein, there will be larger and more numerous skid plates under the van.

EcoBoost, but which one?

In terms of mechanics, Ford does not skimp on the means to obtain performance. Engineers didn’t opt for the big 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 like in the F-150. The rumor puts forward two other options in this same family. First, it could be the 2.7-liter turbocharged engine that develops around 325 horsepower. Secondly, if Ford decides to establish its hegemony on the category, it could also opt for the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 of the Ford Explorer with its cavalry of 365 horsepower or 400 horsepower if it is extracted from the ST.
