2023 Ford F-150 Lightning: $10,000 price drop and Pro version available to everyone
Ford markets its electric van, the F-150 Lightning, for a year now. The model had, however, been hit by a significant price hike in August 2022, shortly after its arrival. The average upside was $10,250, and the most popular Lariat version required an additional outlay of $9,900.
According to a recent press release from Ford, the base price of the model is about to drop again and will reach, according to the information received, the price range presented at the time of the vehicle’s introduction. The XLT versions drop by $10,000 to start at $69,000, the same goes for the Lariat livery which starts at $80,000. The long-range Lariat version gets a smaller $9,000 drop, though, it will now start at $99,600. To these prices must be added an amount of $2,295 for transport and delivery costs.
Here is the price breakdown of the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning adjusted and including all fees:
Version | Old price | New price | Adjustment |
---|---|---|---|
Pro | $76,295 | $61,295 | ($15,000) |
XLT 312A Standard Range | $81,295 | $71,295 | ($10,000) |
XLT 312A Extended Range | $97,295 | $87,295 | ($10,000) |
Lariat 510A Standard Range | $92,295 | $82,295 | ($10,000) |
Lariat 511A Extended Range | $110,895 | $101,895 | ($9,000) |
Platinum Extended Range | $123,295 | $117,295 | ($6,000) |
Ford justifies the effect by reducing the cost of materials and increasing production at its Michigan plant. We know that the plant is temporarily closed due to transformations that will allow the manufacturer to triple production of the Ford F-150 Lightning to reach an annual production target of 150,000 pickup trucks. The factory update is expected to be completed this fall, which is when the new base prices will take effect.
“Soon after the launch of the F-150 Lightning, rapidly rising material costs, supply constraints and other factors drove up the cost of the electric pickup truck, both for Ford and its customers,” said Marin Gjaja, Director of Customer Experience, Ford Model e. We continued our behind-the-scenes efforts to improve the accessibility and affordability of this lineup, with the goal of lowering prices for our customers and shortening delivery times for their new F-150 Lightning. »
The Pro version now available to everyone
The other important news is the fact that the Pro version, formerly reserved for Canada and for fleets, will be offered to everyone. It therefore becomes the most affordable version of the range at a price of $59,000. It now seems offered only with the small battery, ie 98 kilowatt hours.
Conclusion
This price reduction will make the F-150 Lightning a little more accessible, as the effect of rising interest rates was not working in its favor at the moment. The availability of the Pro version is also excellent news, it allows you to afford an electric van at a much more decent price.
