2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Receives Improvements Including Faster Charging

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has continued to attract attention since its arrival in 2021. While some praised its bold styling and notable performance, especially for the GT version, others were rather cooled by its high price and reliability issues . For 2024, the manufacturer is making changes that improve the vehicle’s overall performance, such as its range and fast charging capacity.

These improvements are, in part, linked to the arrival of a new lighter electric motor offering more torque, placed on the rear axle. This engine, whose total power depending on the versions has not been revealed, is developed by Ford directly and will be installed on all 2024 versions of the Mustang Mach-E. Its main effect will be to improve the autonomy of vehicles. Although all the figures are not yet available, for the rear-wheel drive versions the range will be 32 kilometers, meaning that the standard range versions are now approved for 402 kilometers and the extended range versions are at 515 kilometers.

In addition, the manufacturer claims to have improved the fast charging capacity, for all versions. For vehicles equipped with the standard range battery, the charging time is shortened by 5.7 minutes to 32.3 minutes to go from 10 to 80%. The improvement is more drastic for the extended battery versions which see their recharge time from 10 to 80% reduced by 8.8 minutes, to 36.2 minutes. Ford has not yet given the maximum charging capacity accepted by the vehicle.

A more efficient GT version

A vehicle that bears the Mustang name must inevitably have a GT version worthy of the name, and the adjustments made will precisely improve the performance of the model. The new engine allows for greater power which will be available through the “Performance” package which will be possible to select when purchasing the vehicle or later for the GT versions. This package will add 100 lb-ft of torque and allow the vehicle to go from 0-97 km/h (0–60 mph) in 3.3 seconds, faster than the Tesla Model Y Performance and Porsche Macan 4 Electric according to Ford. Other individual options are still available, such as sports seats, MagneRide suspension and Brembo brakes.

Building on this improved mechanics, the Rally version will also arrive for 2024. With its unique style and its suspension raised by 1 inch, it is intended for use off asphalt roads.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has long been criticized for its high prices, a situation that Ford corrected last February in an effort to sell off the remaining 2023 models on dealer lots across the country. However, for 2024, the manufacturer is retaining this downwardly adjusted price structure.
