2024 Lexus RX 450h+, the first plug-in hybrid RX retails for $90,276
While Toyota’s luxury brand completely overhauled the RX lineup last year, Lexus adds a plug-in hybrid version this year, this is the RX 450h+ 2024, a new version that will certainly attract fans of electrified vehicles.
An electric range of 60 kilometers
The 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ features a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine (shared with the NX 450h+) and an electric motor powered by a set of lithium-ion batteries from 96 cells. According to Lexus, the vehicle will be able to travel up to 60 kilometers in electric mode in the best conditions, which is more than many PHEV models currently on the market.
The hybrid system of the 2024 RX 450h+ has an equivalent consumption of around 2.8 litres/100 kilometres; according to the manufacturer’s estimates, it will be able to complete the 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 6.5 seconds.
The RX 450h+ comes standard with a Level 1 charging cable for 120-volt power outlets, and all versions feature a J1772 (Type 1) outlet for home and public charging in a level 2 charging station. A high-efficiency system designed to reduce energy losses when converting AC to DC power allows for faster charging times. Using the maximum charging current at 240 volts and under ideal conditions, the Lexus RX 450h+ can be fully charged in approximately 2.5 hours using the 6.6 kilowatt on-board charger.
The RX 450h+ uses a permanently electronically controlled all-wheel drive (AWD) system. By optimizing the distribution of torque between front and rear according to driving conditions, the driver can control the vehicle according to his preferences.
Only one version offered for $90,276
Only one version will currently be offered in Canada, the RX 450h+ Executive. It will be fully equipped, but its price will reflect its level of equipment, which is $90,276 including all charges.
The RX 450h+ will be offered in 8 exterior colors: Eminent White Pearl, Storm Grey, Iridium, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Intense Copper, Nori Green Pearl and Twilight Mica. All trims get color-keyed fender surrounds, a good thing, roof rails and a power liftgate with a foot-activated sensor. The interior will be offered in three colors: macadamia, black and pepper.
The Lexus RX 450h+ is already on sale in Canadian Lexus dealerships.
