$51,830 for the 2023 Honda Civic Type R

Honda is fast approaching to satisfy performance enthusiasts. With the all-new Toyota GR Corolla and a next-generation Volkswagen Golf R, the Honda Civic Type R has even fiercer rivals than before. We now know its starting price, which, while climbing some $3,000, is still in the same waters as the competition.

You have to pay $51,830 including freight and PDI to own it. That’s an increase of $3,815 when compared to its predecessor, which cost $48,015 at the end of its life cycle. However, compared to the Golf R ($49,759) and GR Corolla ($47,380), the Civic Type R nevertheless remains competitive.

It should also be noted that the next-generation Type R brings several technical novelties, including an increase in power and torque thanks to its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It now develops 315 horsepower instead of 306 and produces 310 lb-ft of torque instead of 295. This engine is still only mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Honda has also made several chassis and suspension changes, including a significant increase in structural rigidity as well as widening the tracks, increasing by 25.4 millimeters at the front and 20.3 millimeters at the back.

RPM will put the 2023 Honda Civic Type R testing next week as part of a first contact. We will get back to you shortly with our impressions.
