A hybrid Porsche 911 would be in the plans
There Porsche 911 is undoubtedly the sportswoman best adapted to change. As it is offered today in a range of versions, the most iconic sports car of all time allows any type of consumer to find what they are looking for. However, if Porsche shows its technical know-how in electrification with the Taycan and its plug-in hybrid engines e-hybrid, the 911 has, until now, never been electrified. That could change in 2025.
At the top of the pyramid
In interview with the American media Motor Trend, Frank Moser, vice president for product lines 911 and some 718 at Porsche, would have confirmed that not only is the manufacturer already preparing the update of the current 911 – known internally under the name 992.2 -, but that a hybrid engine is already on the benches. testing as a prototype.
“We are working on the next generation of the 911. It should arrive somewhere in the middle of this decade. For this model, we have developed a brand new, very high performance hybrid engine” – he added in an interview.
When asked when exactly this mysterious electrified 911 would be released, Mr. Moser reportedly confirmed that it would show up around the 2025 model year.
According to what we understand about the Porsche 911 hybrid, it is that it will reside at the top of the range alongside the Turbo and Turbo S, currently the most powerful 911s offered by the manufacturer. If we base ourselves on the technical data of a 911 Turbo S with its 572 horsepower, and on the eHybrid system that the manufacturer already markets with an added power of 174 horsepower, we could expect a car with the total combined power would be around 750 horsepower.
We continue to closely monitor the Porsche 911 hybrid file and will come back to you with more details as soon as they become available.
