A Lucid designer imagines what a Saab electric SUV would look like

It’s not uncommon for enthusiasts to have fun imagining what different vehicles might look like. Professional designers also participate in this exercise and some do not hesitate to share their creations.

This is the case for Grimaud Gervex, a senior exterior designer at Lucid Motors. Gervex, who recently contributed to the design of the Lucid Gravity, undoubtedly has a certain attachment to Saab, since he was interested in the possibility of designing an electric SUV produced by the defunct Swedish brand.

Named Saab Rover

It was through his Instagram account that the designer shared some images of an electric SUV called Saab Rover, which would incorporate the bases and DNA of Saab.

According to Gervex, the vehicle’s silhouette embraces Saab’s history in aircraft manufacturing, combining elements from aeronautics. It highlights the fuselage with a truncated rear end, for better airflow management, and seamless integration of functions into the exterior design language.

It will be recalled that the Swedish automobile manufacturer Saab was founded in 1937 and began its operations with the manufacture of fighter aircraft. It began manufacturing automobiles in 1945 with the Saab 92. After an investment by GM in the 1990s, the brand was eliminated from GM’s catalog in 2009 during a restructuring in the midst of an economic crisis. . Despite some takeover attempts, notably by Koenigsegg, Saab experienced financial difficulties and was sold to Spyker, then to NEVS, a Chinese consortium, in 2012. However, no concrete projects have been carried out since then.
