A Porsche roof tent will be marketed, and the 911 will benefit from it
Over time, several customers of Porsche took it upon themselves to make and DIY roof tents for their 911. The Stuttgart automaker was obviously taking detailed notes since then, while a roof tent donated directly from the automaker will go on sale from the November for the Porsche 911 and several other models in the range.
A tent designed to Porsche standards
The new “Porsche Tequipment” roof tent, as the manufacturer calls it, can accommodate two people and comes in a stylish hard shell. It was designed at the development center in Weissach, Germany, and is performance-oriented, largely because it’s more aerodynamic than most tents of its kind. The tent is designed for four-season use, as it is equipped with water-resistant zippers, a quilted and insulated liner, a rain cover for the entrance, two side windows and a roof window.
Otherwise, you might be surprised by the size of the tent that can be fitted to a Porsche 911 format car, although it can also be accommodated by other models in the range. Folded up, it measures 146 centimeters in width, 140 centimeters in length and 33 centimeters in height. The floor measures 210 centimeters in length and 130 centimeters in width when the tent is unfolded for use.
Opening and closing the tent should be a breeze, as it includes two pressure shock absorbers to help lift it. Four stakes to keep it taut so that it does not close are also integrated. Then, the ladder is also integrated and unfolds to stabilize the floor when it is fully unfolded. Moreover, a high-density polyurethane foam mattress is integrated into the floor, which should make it comfortable from the start.
The total weight is 56 kilos, and the suggested speed limit is 130 kilometers per hour when installed.

We still don’t know its selling price in local currency, but we do know that the roof tent can be fitted to a range of Porsche models.
