A record year for Bugatti with 80 deliveries in 2022
These days, we are used to fairly high numbers of vehicles delivered and put into circulation by the various car manufacturers. For example, Tesla announced earlier in January that it had produced more than 1.37 million vehicles during the year 2022. Admittedly, this number may seem high, but, for others, a record may also stem from a significantly lower amount. This is moreover the case of Bugatti which set a record by delivering 80 vehicles to its customers in 2022.
A unique character behind this record
During the past year, the manufacturer Bugatti has built and delivered no less than 80 hyper sports cars to its customers. Of this number, we find the last 9 Chiron Super Sport 300+all 10 Centodieci as well as the latest Chiron and Chiron Sports dedicated to the European market. The manufacturer also claims that this is the greatest diversity of models delivered in the same year, since its rebirth 17 years ago.
Behind this record hides a very special manufacturing process that cannot be found on a traditional assembly line. Indeed, each copy that leaves the Molsheim workshop is assembled by hand. Each car passes through the hands of about twenty employees who assemble nearly 1,800 parts before arriving at the final result. In addition, each car can be personalized to the taste of its buyer. All these details therefore require additional time, one of the reasons why the record is not as high as at Tesla, for example.
More than 100 Chiron to assemble
In 2022, among the 80 cars assembled at the Molsheim workshop, there was the 400e Bugatti Chiron. Remember that, in 2016 when the new generation of this hyper sports car was launched, the manufacturer announced that production would be limited to only 500 copies. There would therefore remain only 100 Chiron to be manufactured before the end of this model. On the other hand, the W16 engine will not disappear immediately with the car, since 2 other models will be equipped with this engine. Bugatti’s ultimate roadster named the W16 Mistral as well as the Bolide will be the last two cars of this era, says the manufacturer.
A new era
The year 2022 also marked the first anniversary of the new Bugatti Rimac banner. This therefore suggests an evolution of the brand as well as the engines offered during the next unveilings to come. Moreover, the manufacturer plans to make a few announcements during the 2e quarter of 2023, according to a press release published on January 9.
