A subtle update for the 2023 Volvo S60/V60

Following the changes made to the XC60 and XC90 SUVs, it is only normal that Volvo makes the same kind of alterations to its sedan and compact wagon. True to form, the Sino-Swedish manufacturer only brings subtle alterations to its already magnificent S60 as well as its family versions, the V60 and V60 Cross Country.

These are therefore 2023 models that will arrive in dealerships across the country by this summer. It’s hard to notice the differences at first glance, as Volvo has only made minor changes to the grille, including the front bumper; it has been slightly redesigned to give the models a slightly sportier look. It is the same at the rear where we notice, again, a slightly redesigned bumper.

New body colors are also included, not to mention new rims. On the S60, the design of the rims is directly inspired by the Polestar 1, Polestar’s former flagship model.

Android, B5, B6 and Recharge

As for the engines, everything remains intact since Volvo had already overhauled the engines of these models for 2022. The S60/V60 both inherited the manufacturer’s new B5 and B6 engines, which consist of integrating a light hybridization system with 48 volts to old T5 and T6 engines.

The rechargeable hybrid Recharge versions also see some improvements: a battery whose capacity goes from 11.6 kilowatt hours (9.1 usable) to 18.7 (14.8 usable) while maintaining the same size. The electric range therefore increases from 35 to 61 kilometres. There’s also an increase in power from 400 to 455 horsepower and torque from 472 to 523 pound-feet.

Finally, Volvo is reworking the interior of its compacts somewhat, while adding more efficient sensors, radars and cameras to improve the driver assistance systems. All 2023 S60/V60 will come standard with the Google Android multimedia interface which is already found in the XC40 Recharge and XC60 as well as in the Polestar 2.
