Acura reportedly showed the electric NSX at its dealerships

Although the Acura NSX as we know it is now behind us, the manufacturer is already preparing its replacement. Indeed, after confirming its return, Acura would have already unveiled the concept of the racing car at its dealerships as part of a private event. The manufacturer would also have taken advantage of this event to show the ZDX, its first electric SUV based on the Honda Prologue.

This information comes to us from an Acura dealership who prefers to remain anonymous. She and other automaker dealerships were invited to a private event held in Arizona in early April 2023. That’s where Acura reportedly lifted the lid on the 3-speed NSX.e
generation which, according to what we understand, will only be marketed in electric.

Even if it was forbidden to take pictures of the car, our source informs us that the next NSX will have a very futuristic design, as we have not seen so far in the segment of supercars. The technical characteristics of this car are still very vague, but, if we rely on the information received, it would not be a platform that the manufacturer shares with General Motors as will be the case for Hondas. Prologue and Acura ZDX but rather an electrical architecture specific to Honda.

In reality, this NSX could be the spearhead of the automaker’s independence in building electric vehicles, as promised by Acura when it unveiled its electrification plans. We can therefore expect the manufacturer to show us the first concepts of its supercar over the next two years, with marketing planned within 5 years. Honda has also confirmed that another vehicle, based on its upcoming electric platform, is also in the plans for the 2025 model year.

The ZDX, Acura’s first electric SUV

In the near future, Acura will market the ZDX, its first electric SUV based on the Honda Prologue and built together with General Motors on the modular Ultium architecture. Our source, who saw the Prologue at the private event, informs us that Acura is largely inspired by the Precision EV concept it unveiled last year.

About the same size as an MDX, the ZDX revives an old name in order to fetch the nostalgic, a bit like the manufacturer had tried to do with the Integra. We could expect technical components similar to those of the Cadillac Lyriq, namely a battery whose capacity is calculated at 108 kilowatt hours (102 usable) and a charging power in a fast terminal that can reach 190 kilowatts. However, nothing has been confirmed by Acura in this regard. Its marketing will be scheduled for next year.

Another interesting fact we learned for the Canadian market, the ZDX will not only be sold online as it will be on the US side. Acura Canada intends to continue to rely on its dealerships for the marketing of its electric SUV on our territory.

We will continue to closely monitor the development of the electric Acura ZDX and NSX. We’ll get back to you with more details as they become available.
