After a recent drop, Tesla raises the price of the Model Y

Tesla is an electric automobile manufacturer whose operating methods are not standard. In its unique ways of doing things, we note, among other things, the upward and downward price fluctuations that can occur in the same model year. This is also the case once again with the Model Y which has just undergone a price increase for two out of three versions of the range.

Playing yo-yo with the price

Price fluctuations are commonplace at Tesla. The most recent example is the price drop that the Model Y has just undergone at the beginning of February 2024. This latest drop amounted to $4,000 and affected the all-wheel drive version. However, a little more than a month after this change, Tesla is once again announcing a price change for certain versions of the Model Y. This time, it will instead be a question of an increase of $1,000 which will affect the rear-wheel drive and long-range all-wheel drive versions. According to the banner which displayed this message on the site of Tesla Canadathis change will be effective from March 15, i.e. this Friday.

The American manufacturer did not give any additional details on the exact reasons for this increase, especially shortly after making a price reduction.

Still eligible for discounts

Despite this price increase coming this Friday, Tesla Model Y with long-range rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive would remain eligible for rebates offered by governments when purchasing or leasing an electric vehicle.

As was already the case with the Performance version, the latter remains ineligible for rebates, but will not undergo any price change.

Is this the last time there will be price changes on the Model Y? Even if we don’t have a crystal ball to read the future, we are allowed to believe that we don’t. Tesla has accustomed us to this type of practice, and it would not be surprising to see price increases or decreases again during the model year.
