An electric Ford Maverick Lightning reportedly in the works
Ford is committed to electrification as few other manufacturers do. On the pickup side, we now know the F-150 Lightning and the e-Transit; there is a good chance that we will soon discover a Electric Maverick.
There are a lot of rumors going around in the automotive world, but when they come from the CEO of Ford, it is assumed that they are taken a little more seriously. In an interview with the publication The New York Times, he supported the idea that the Maverick could see its range of mechanics widen, in particular with a electrification complete.
This claim follows the premise that the organization unveiled at its Capital Markets Day financial event where it was shown the silhouette of a compact pickup truck, clearly smaller than the F-150 Lightning. What will the engine be? Difficult to predict at the moment.
One thing is certain, the craze for the Maverick is real, and the approach favoring activities of the type “lifestyle” makes its electrification more logical. Moreover, Ford is already playing daring by offering a basic version with front-wheel drive and hybrid drive. In the same vein, being built on the basis of the Escape, it would not be surprising that we discover a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant in the months to come.
Ford is embarking on electrification with both feet and the announcement, a few weeks ago, of a new platform for its mid-size vehicles favoring propulsion such as the Explorer and the Aviator. In this lineage and if it adopts this base, the Ranger could also possibly enjoy electrification.
