An electric Ram ProMaster to be introduced in 2023

Ram, like other Stellantis brands, has started its shift to electric. Indeed, it will be in 2023 that we will see the very first van Ram deprived of a thermal engine. Before getting there, the manufacturer takes the opportunity to bring several new features to its ProMaster 2022.

Scheduled for Canadian marketing this fall, the Ram ProMaster 2022 does not change in terms of design, but it incorporates some mechanical novelties in order to remain competitive in its segment.

While the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is unchanged with 280 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, it’s now mated to an all-new nine-speed automatic. According to Ram, this gearbox would reduce the vehicle’s fuel consumption by 10% compared to the old six-speed. Consumption figures have not yet been announced, however.

This technical innovation allows the towing capacity to be slightly increased. It therefore drops from 2,313 kilos (5,100 pounds) to 3,134 kilos (6,910 pounds). Maximum payload capacity does not budge at 2,123 kilograms (4,680 pounds).

The other novelty is the integration of the UConnect 5 multimedia system. This software can not only be updated remotely, but it is also equipped with a WiFi terminal with a 4G LTE modem. Offered with a seven or ten inch screen, this system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity as well as the Amazon Alexa assistant.
