BMW | Unveiling of the second model developed by the M division

BMW is clearly not afraid of offending the purists these days. After stylistic choices that have created a little controversy in the industry, the brand fully embraces this new avenue which relies on the immensity of its calenders. Here is the Concept XM which announces the arrival of the second creation in the history of BMW developed for its M performance division.

A sign that the appetite for SUVs and crossovers remains insatiable, this creation is high on legs and incorporates, you guessed it, a rear roofline that gradually lowers to mimic the inspiration of a coupe. The proportions are curious with these fine headlights and the huge openings cut into the bow.

The rear is perhaps even more controversial with its stacked trapezoidal exhaust pipes and long LED streaks acting as lights. In short, we are far from the beautifully refined appearance of the sports car with central M1 engine designed by a certain Giorgetto Giugiaro, the first model marketed only in the M family.

To compete with the Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX of this world, this newcomer, whose final form we will see next year, will embark a rechargeable hybrid mechanism. BMW promises 80 km of autonomy from this duo made up of a V8, probably twin-turbo, and an electric motor. Horsepower reaches 750 hp and torque sits at 737 lb-ft.

A mixture of genres, let’s say, rather curious to underline the 50 years of the M1.
