Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6 concept, the rival of the Tesla Cybertruck

The Shanghai Auto Show has unveiled its batch of quirky vehicles. It’s hard to miss the Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6, a 6-wheeled van that displays a rather eccentric design. The objective is to build on the enthusiasm generated by the Tesla Cybertruck. The vehicle is the latest creation from one of China’s largest automakers, Great Wall Motors, which specializes in the sale of pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles.

The CyberP!ckup 6×6 is a concept vehicle developed from the Cannon, a full-size pickup truck sold in China by the automaker. In order to make it a unique vehicle, the manufacturer added a third axle, which justifies the name 6×6. The Cannon CyberP!ckup 6×6 would be able to go just about anywhere without a hitch.

According to the manufacturer, it would be the first 6×6 vehicle produced in China. As you can imagine, the platform has been greatly modified to accommodate this additional set of 18-inch wheels. The suspension has also been extensively modified and reinforced. Also note that the vehicle is equipped with 5 lockable differentials.

Unlike Tesla with the Cybertruck, the company has decided not to offer it only in a battery-electric version. The juggernaut will also be sold in a plug-in hybrid version, equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine whose power should be around 517 horsepower. The electric range should be around 50 kilometers. Another hydrogen engine should also be offered.

Inside, the manufacturer keeps the 5-seater configuration, the dashboard offers a modern presentation, while there is an imposing touch screen placed vertically which allows you to control a little everything on board.

It seems that the Chinese firm is not ruling out the possibility of producing the vehicle for its local market. The vehicle is reminiscent of the Henessey Mammoth 6X6 RAM TRX, a similar vehicle sold by the preparer Henessey and whose engine develops nothing less than 1,000 horsepower.

Conclusion

Automotive decadence has always existed. It seems that electric vehicles will not escape it! Who really needs a vehicle like this?
