Electric reorientation for Mazda | The press
The Japanese manufacturer Mazda recently presented the main lines of its updated electrification plan which will bet both on hybrid and full electric.
This reorientation essentially aims to reduce development costs and allow Mazda to be competitive on various electrification fronts, depending on the penetration rate of all-electric in the markets. Thus, thanks to the contribution of various partners in the adventure, including Toyota, Mazda estimates that he can save 500 billion yen (around 4.8 billion Canadian dollars).
The development of an internal modular electrical platform with the contribution of artificial intelligence is however still on rails. Thanks to partnerships, Mazda believes that they can halve the design time. We advance 2027 for the unveiling of a first model from this project.
In parallel, the brand is working on a new generation of combustion engine called Skyactiv-Z supported on a 2.5 L four-cylinder. Taking a drop in polluting emissions to, among other things, respect the new European Euro 7 standards, engineers are advancing they can maintain the same level of performance as currently, despite forecasts going towards a 30 % drop in yield.
They will integrate it into a hybrid group to move the next generation of the compact CX-5 SUV from 2027. The advances made will also equip the six-cylinders turbocharged CX-70 and CX-90, we promise. Punishable livery is also planned.
