
The Canadian market is often dictated the models to which it is entitled by the immense American purchasing power. However, there are some rare exceptions to this constant. The EV5, an electric compact SUV produced by Kia, will be one of them, since this model will only be offered in Canada during its North American foray into 2026.
The South Korean brand made the announcement a few weeks before its first appearance in the country as part of the Toronto Auto Show. We obviously have very little to put ourselves under the tooth at this stage on the technical level, apart from the possibility of choosing between a traction or full-legged configuration.

Two batteries are also in the boxes, 60.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh. The EV5 will also receive a NACS port allowing it to be directly compatible with the terminals of the Tesla superchargers network. KIA also specifies that the emphasis will also be placed on the interior volume and the rear trunk, which will benefit from files that can fall completely flat to embark bulky objects. A small storage under the front cover is also present.
A first real competitor therefore at the Chevrolet Equinox EV which could well make a misfortune in Quebec, but it will depend on its price range.
