Electrification points the tip of its nose at Lamborghini

Despite the exclusiveness of exotic cars from manufacturers like Ferrari and Lamborghini, the new environmental standards will not make exceptions. This is also why we will observe the appearance of hybridization within the model ranges of these manufacturers.

For the moment, Lamborghini has only offered hybridization in certain limited series models, such as the Countach LPI 800-4 and the Sián, but this will soon be a thing of the past in the coming years.

Hybridization throughout the range

All future Lamborghini products will offer hybridization in one way or another. Moreover, the future Urus would have been seen on the road during its development process with a charging port. This therefore leads us to believe that, during its refresh, the SUV from the Italian manufacturer was offered this feature.

Moreover, we already know that the successor to the Aventador will be unveiled in 2023 and should be equipped with a plug-in hybrid engine comprising a V12, while the replacement for the Huracán, which is at the end of career, is scheduled for 2024. The latter should use a V8 biturbo plug-in hybrid. The roar of Lamborghini engines is therefore not ready to stop.

A new addition to the portfolio in electric form

This highly interesting information comes from a British automotive media that spoke with the CEO of Lamborghini. The main lines that emerged from this discussion state that a fourth member would be added to the Lamborghini family in 2028. This new model will have an electric motor, a first for the manufacturer. Moreover, it will apparently have a 2-door, 4-seat configuration, as well as higher ground clearance than its two siblings.

A little Volkswagen in the recipe

We should not be surprised to see the manufacturer taking advantage of its membership of the Volkswagen group to facilitate the development of this new electric model. As the German manufacturer is well advanced on this side, this would reduce development costs. Note that this exchange of service would not be a first, since the Lamborghini Urus is based on the same platform used by the Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne.

Either way, bringing this technology to the Lamborghini range will have benefits. Despite the fact that fuel economy is not the priority of a large proportion of exotic car buyers, the sought-after performance side will certainly not be overlooked, since the evidence of electric motorizations is well established. performance and torque.
