Fiat, the best-selling brand of Stellantis since the beginning of the year

Since 2021, the automotive group Fiat/Chrysler merged with the French automotive group PSA to become Stellantis. The result is a portfolio of 14 brands including Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Maserati, Peugeot and Opel.

According to Stellantis, of the 14 brands in the group, Fiat is the one that has surpassed them all in terms of sales during the first six months of the year. The Italian brand has sold 645,000 vehicles worldwide, an increase of 10% compared to sales in 2022.

Interestingly, the brand is making significant inroads outside of Europe with over 50% of its sales coming from outside the region. Fiat remains an important brand in South America with 14.1% market share, while Brazil is now the most important market for the brand with 22% of its sales made largely with the Fiat Strada, a compact van . In the heart of its native Italy, the Fiat Panda gets 12.8% of all sales in the first half of 2023.

Only the Fiat 500x is sold in Canada

In general, Fiat is enjoying great success in Europe with sales of its electric model, the 500e. The car is not currently offered in North America, but it is known that the next generation of the 500e will be released in Canada in 2024. The car is expected to be presented at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. In Canada, only the Fiat 500X is currently sold, its base price is $36,690.

Fiat CEO Olivier François said the company’s product plan over the next three years “will bring Fiat back to where it should be: a leader, a benchmark, a loved brand”.

Conclusion

It is amazing to see that Fiat exceeds the level of sales of brands like Ram, Jeep and Dodge. This is a sign that the number of quality vehicles offered by these tenors in recent years has dropped significantly, leaving the field open to Fiat. Too bad, let’s hope that electrification can restore the former Chrysler group’s credentials.
