Fisker will open automobile dealerships very soon in Canada
Fisker is a young company in the automotive field. Founded in 2016 by Henrik Fisker, the manufacturer, specializing in electric vehicles, wants to take a prominent place in the market. The company is also experiencing interesting success with its Ocean SUV, but is struggling to distribute it well on the continent, according to the CEO. To correct the situation, Fisker announced today its intention to transform its sales strategy by integrating a series of dealerships across the continent, including in Canada.
A slight decline in online sales
Fisker currently distributes its Ocean SUV through his website. This way of doing things, called direct sales, will always remain an option offered to the brand’s customers, according to Henrik Fisker. However, in order to sell its products better, the company will add, from 1er quarter of 2024, a series of physical points of contact where future owners will be able to purchase their vehicle. Fisker manufactured 10,000 Oceans in 2023, but only delivered around 4,700 copies due to distribution constraints, which is pushing the company to change its business model.
As it moves toward a “concession partnership,” Fisker will grant distribution licenses so that brand concessions can take shape. According to the company’s CEO, Fisker dealerships will have large exclusive territories. Sellers will be distributed efficiently in order to implement a strategy intended to improve service to customers while maintaining competitive prices.
A return to the traditional formula?
“As we have seen throughout 2023, the electric vehicle market has changed dramatically,” CEO Henrik Fisker said in a press release. “We are evolving our business model and intend to add up to 50 partner dealerships in the United States and Canada this year, as well as a similar number of touchpoints in Europe. Consistent with our asset-light strategy, I believe this strategy should enable Fisker to expand its sales and delivery network at a faster pace. »
“Asset-light” refers to the different business methods that Fisker has taken to reduce its operating costs. For example, the company only has 2 dealerships in North America, in Los Angeles and New York, and has its cars manufactured by Magna International in an Austrian factory in order to reduce production expenses.
Fisker still hasn’t given details on how the physical locations will operate, but said 50 new touchpoints will be in operation across the United States and Canada. Furthermore, the company plans to send its first Ocean vehicles to its new dealerships by the end of 1er quarter.
