Ford | A special 60th anniversary edition for the Mustang

New decade, new milestone for the Ford Mustang, which celebrated its 60th last weeke birthday. THE pony car original, who now finds himself alone after the departure of the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro, does not shy away from his pleasure by revealing himself in a unique outfit for the occasion.

This edition 60e anniversary continues the tradition of commemorative publications with stylistic elements of its own. Limited to 1965 examples, the official model year of the first vintage, it receives unique badges on the front fenders and the rear trunk inspired by its ancestor.

In response to the low popularity of its Mustang Mach-E electric crossover, Ford has been trying for months to readjust its approach in order to stimulate sales. After significant price reductions announced in February, the American manufacturer is making the model more efficient, but above all capable of covering more kilometers.

Everything essentially starts with a new, lighter and more torquey electric motor. Along with revised “thermal management and control algorithms,” it increases the range of the standard single-motor battery (402 km) and twin-motor long-range battery (515 km) versions by 32 km. The Mach-E GT sees a more modest gain of 16 km (451 km).

A new options package included as standard on the Rally trim and optional on the GT variant increases total torque by 100 lb-ft, which lowers the 0-97 km/h time to 3.3 seconds, according to Ford . The manufacturer specifies that it will now be faster than the Tesla Model Y Performance, a detail which underlines the extent to which this popular rival shakes up the Mach-E. On sale now with a starting price of $54,995.
