It has been a year since Ford Bronco was presented to the whole world, but no example yet rolls on our roads. Indeed, this iconic model, which was supposed to be marketed in the spring of 2021, was, until now, not even assembled due to several delays linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, but also due to a semiconductor shortage affecting the automotive industry globally. Production of the model finally begins at Ford’s Michigan plant.
The first customers who booked a Ford Bronco 2021 should receive their copy in the coming weeks. Remember that Ford must first satisfy more than 125,000 reservations before placing new orders. The manufacturer specifies that production of the 2022 model will not begin until the end of the year, which could postpone some deliveries until next year.
Additionally, consumers who have ordered their Ford Bronco with the Sasquatch Off-Road Package will have to wait until 2022 as Ford is still struggling with parts supply to build this package.
Last year, Ford revived the Bronco badge on two new off-road models. Although the Bronco Sport is compact, based on the unibody architecture of a Ford Escape, the Bronco is based on the platform of a Ranger and aims to attack the Jeep Wrangler.
Capable of removing its roof like its main opponent, the Ford Bronco sells for a starting price of $ 40,499 and stretches all the way up to $ 56,494 for the Wildtrack version, which directly rivals the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
Two engine choices are available, either a 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder delivering 300 horsepower or a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 delivering 330 horsepower. A hybrid powertrain is also in the plans, as well as an even more ferocious variant which will bear the name Warthog.
