Ford Mustang Mach-E and Chevrolet Blazer EV | American rivals sharpen their weapons

While many manufacturers are rethinking their electrification strategy, Ford and General Motors (GM) continue to rely on their star players to attract customers wishing to free themselves from gasoline. The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E and Chevrolet Blazer EV add a few more strings to their bow.

As for the Mustang Mach-E, the mid-size electric crossover gains a standard heat pump supposed to ensure better energy management, particularly in cold weather. This is obviously intended to increase the autonomy of the vehicle, which has not yet been revealed. The 2025 model year also sees its storage volume increase at the front by making use of a new gear lever placed on the steering column. In terms of technology, the Mustang Mach-E inherits an updated version of the BlueCruise semi-autonomous driving system allowing lane changes without driver intervention. This new vintage is also more affordable with a standard livery detailed at $52,995, $2,000 less than the most accessible 2024 Mach-E.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV SS will arrive in Canada early next year.

The bow-tie competitor benefits for 2025 from the full range of versions previously announced. The 220-hp front-wheel-drive LT variant serves as the new base version priced at $54,499, narrowing the gap with the Equinox EV, priced at $48,199 as standard. The LT all-wheel drive and RS all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive versions receive a handful of more kilometers in range to reach 455 km (all-wheel drive) and 538 km (rear-wheel drive). The Blazer EV SS will also finally be marketed at the start of 2025 with its 595 hp, pushing the model's performance up in exchange for $69,999. Note that GM estimates that 55% of Blazer EV buyers come from competitors, which makes it a very strategically important product.
