Ford replaces quality control manager
The last two years in particular have not been easy for Ford in terms of reliability. From heating issues in the Mustang Mach-E to wheels coming off on the F-150 Raptor, not to mention hefty recall lists on some models, the Dearborn automaker is being hit hard by many serious problems. To remedy the situation, Ford began by replacing the person responsible for vehicle quality control.
On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, Ford announced to its shareholders that engineer Stuart Rowley, whose main task was to oversee quality control at Ford, will resign to make way for his interim replacement, vice- Ford’s current chairman, Jim Bauwick. Mr. Rowley had worked for the Ford Motor Company for 32 years.
“We have made a lot of effort to improve our initial quality and we see it in our surveys. We’ve also overcome several production issues in recent months, but we’re not happy with our reputation for reliability. This includes recalls and customer satisfaction. We need to quickly address these issues.” This was told by Ford CEO Jim Farley during his meeting with shareholders.
If we take the Mustang Mach-E as an example, since its arrival on the market last year, this model has given its owners a series of headaches because of the problems related to the battery. 12 volts, keyless access, electrical system, heating and more.
“It’s very frustrating for our customers, and we’re doing everything we can to compensate them with the right policies in place. Rest assured, everyone at Ford is taking this situation very seriously and aiming to quickly rectify the situation. – explained Mr. Farley.
It remains to be seen how this change of direction will affect the quality of recent Ford models, more particularly the Mustang Mach-E, the F-150 and the Bronco which are still proving to be the hardest hit vehicles today.
