Fresco XL: when the Norwegians make an electric “car”

Another week, another emerging company in the field of electric vehicles. This time, it does not come from Silicon Valley but from Europe and, more precisely, from Norway. We discover the company Fresco with its first vehicle, the XL, and, to be certain of attracting our attention, it promises a range of 1,000 kilometres.

Fresco returns to the media scene with a whole new approach, the XL. Difficult to grasp the concept of design that dresses this product. Its lines are exceptionally simple while being very efficient and certainly very aerodynamic. Like several electric novelties like the Tesla Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T/R1S, the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the front lighting passes through a single transverse light strip. Same story for the rear. These are the only two design elements. We can’t talk about the rims, they are black and completely closed for better air penetration.

8 seats

With its six employees at the moment, Fresco is making a series of announcements on the XL. Although it is currently impossible to see the layout of the cabin, the “builder” maintains that there will be room for 8 people. It will also be possible to fold the back of the seats to transform the whole into an ideal surface for improvised camping.

Range of 1,000 kilometers

On the technical level, the information is embryonic. Without saying a single word about the capacity of the battery other than it being part of the structure, Fresco advertises a range of 1,000 kilometers between recharges. We even go so far as to emphasize that the development will take into account the fact of winter in the evaluation and design of the engine/battery assembly. Speaking of motors, there will be one on each axle, making the XL an all-wheel-drive vehicle.

Fresco XL

For now, the Fresco XL is just a digital representation. Despite this reality, Fresco is starting to take deposits of 1,000 euros for pre-orders. The manufacturer’s site also announces that it is looking for investors. Obviously, there is no official marketing date for the moment, but the sale price is revealed: 100,000 euros, therefore more than $145,000.

Fresco Reverie

Daydreaming

Nobody really knows the Fresco company; at least not everyone who knew her remembered her. Technically, the XL is not the first vehicle unveiled by Jacques Fresco’s company. If we step back in 2019, we then remember a mid-size sedan, the Reverie. Although it was aesthetically very attractive, for one reason or another it fell into oblivion; at least it’s still on a tablet.
