General Motors is also considering rolling out Camaro and Escalade sub-brands

General Motors (GM) would like to incorporate Camaro and Escalade sub-brands into its model portfolio. At least that’s what the American magazine claims. Car and Driver a few weeks after saying the same thing about the Chevrolet Corvette.

The media again relies on a source working for GM. The idea is obviously to rely on the notoriety of these names in order to develop new models. The Escalade sub-brand could thus create an intermediate SUV with a monocoque platform to compete with the Porsche Cayenne. Another luxury crossover is also under consideration.

The Cadillac Escalade could become a sub-brand of GM in order to profit from the notoriety of its name.

On the Camaro side, GM would consider launching an electric coupe and crossover using this fairly important name in the history of the American giant. This is undeniably reminiscent of the approach advocated by Ford with its Mustang Mach-E. There is no doubt that the exercise will have to be done with skill to avoid diluting these essential names for GM.
