GM suspends sales of 2024 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon

The dealership network General Motors stopped the sale of Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon 2024 in North America. In fact, the manufacturer specifies that a software problem is preventing the vehicles from hitting the road. GM nevertheless confirms that it is working to correct the situation as quickly as possible.

GM does not specify the cause

It’s everyday Detroit Free Press who initially reported the news. The media noticed, a little earlier this week, that several Chevrolet Colorados and GMC Canyons were accumulating in the yards of the GM Wentzville plant. After verification, it was possible to understand that the manufacturer was experiencing a software problem in its vehicles.

GM did not provide any details to the media, but according to information collected on various platforms, the problem affects the infotainment system of the pickup trucks.

The central screen, which handles a ton of controls, simply wouldn’t work. This situation forces the manufacturer to immobilize its vehicles, because controls necessary for proper operation are hidden in the system. This is where, among other things, it is possible to turn the van lights on and off.

The sales suspension impacts approximately 15,000 pickup trucks, primarily in the United States, according to GM. The manufacturer did not mention how many copies in Canada were affected, but added that the situation affects North America.

According to Brandee Baker, GM’s vice president of Global Technology Communications, the delay is not expected to extend for a long period of time. He said the company has identified the problem and is beginning to implement a fix.

The manufacturer, however, remains unclear on the issue. The company simply clarified that the vehicles had intermittent software issues, without providing further details on the situation. Models already shipped to dealerships will remain grounded until GM corrects the problem.
