Honda Civic hatchback to land on June 23
Family Honda Civic is furnished with several models. While the sedan is central in the strategy, the coupe was recently phased out due to a lack of popularity. The Honda Civic hatchback remains very popular and the manufacturer has announced that it will be unveiled on June 23 and that it can be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.
Honda Canada made the announcement yesterday, accompanying its press release with a photo that shows the shape of the car without all the details being revealed. What strikes first is the extension of the roof to the rear which sits halfway between a hatchback and a wagon. We also notice the front very close to that of the sedan, which confirms that only the rear will undergo major changes compared to the sedan, as is the case with all hatchbacks in the category.
Even if no confirmation has been made in terms of mechanics, it’s a safe bet that the new Civic hatchback will retain the same strategy as the current generation. Only the 1.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder should be offered, and Honda confirms that it can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission, unlike the sedan which only offers a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Honda also rules that the Civic hatchback will have a sportier, more engaging mandate than the sedan. It is “Designed to meet the needs of the dynamic lifestyle of young buyers,” the statement read. It should offer increased driving pleasure compared to the sedan, as is currently the case.
For the first time since the advent of a Honda Civic five-door hatchback, the car will be built in the United States at the plant in Greensburg, Indiana. The current generation is produced in England.
The launch of the car will take place on June 23 at 9 p.m. on Youtube for an online concert featuring HER and the duo Majid Jordan.
