Honda recalls more than 50,000 vehicles in Canada
The constructor Honda will recall more than 50,000 vehicles in Canada; the targeted models are the Passport, Pilot as well as Ridgeline, the manufacturer’s mid-size van. Overall, 788,931 vehicles are being recalled in North America.
Based on what is known, the hood latch bolt on certain Honda vehicles could separate from the hood and allow the hood to open while driving. So far, 116 repairs have been made and were covered by warranty, but the sheer number of affected customers has resulted in a safety recall.
Transport Canada mentions that a poorly fixed or vibrating hood may have a potentially or tangible closure. A gap between the hood and the grille sealer could allow air to pass through and cause the hood to vibrate, putting additional stress on the mounting bolts.
Security risks
Suddenly opening a hood while driving can block the driver’s view and increase the risk of an accident.
Honda will report the problem to affected owners by mail and ask them to take their vehicle to the dealership to inspect the hood latch bolt and install a bolt backing plate or replace the hood. If it’s happened.
Here are the details of models affected by the safety recall:
